Right now, San Ramon doesn't have much of a downtown area or thriving nightlife, but that's all about to change soon. San Ramon is in the process of building a superb city center spanning 2.1 million square feet -- that's 39 acres!
If you live in the area, you've probably noticed that things are being torn down near the Target shopping center. That is where the proposed city center will be located.
The city center will feature 635,000 square feet of retail space. There will also be a huge new library and a new City Hall building! If you live in the area, you've probably seen some of the new City Hall already. When it's finished, City Hall will be 110,000 square feet.
In addition to the retail spaces, there will be 4,888 residential units available for purchase, as well as a hotel with 169 rooms. Downtown San Ramon will be home to 682,000 square feet of office space as San Ramon is a hub for corporate companies. There will also be a full theater and 100,000 square feet of restaurant space.


The whole project will be completed in phases. The entire project should be finished around 2017 or 2018. As a San Ramon resident, I am incredibly excited to see this happen. The new city center will add tremendous value to our community.
